Our book release party was great!

Well, I wanted to write about my book party sooner, but I got pinkeye and I was pretty blind for a while. I had to got through lots of pics that I found on my girls' pages, since my dumb ass forgot my memory cards for my camera when I was at the party. =( I know I was super stressed about getting my gallery together and organizing my invites for the party (among other things), but I feel that the party was a great success. It was so worth it!

First, I really want to thank everyone who showed up. I know some of you drove all the way from San Diego, Moreno Valley (big ups to the boonies...actually no, I hate most of you.=P ), and God knows where else. I just want to say that I truly appreciated seeing all you of there. (even though I got drunk and ended up debating with some of you about stupid bullshit. haha. long story, but it was all in good fun ) We had a great turn out and I know lots of us had a blast. =) Here are some pics with commentary and what have you...

posing in front of my gallery. Like my freddie cruger dress?
<Me, Laura, and S.A. the poet for her doll.
<My lovely Dolls holding up their pages. Yup, still drunk in this pic.
<Mika- my sexy Casimir doll. I don't know why I look like a ghost here.
<<3 these girls. Casimir, Sunshine, and Tiffany dolls.

We had the spoken word poets read their poems from my book and also writers of the other books read excerpts from their stories.

<These are just some of them. I had to find these on myspace. =P

<Couples enjoying the swing. hahaha

<Most of the dolls that showed up minus Vima and Laura who already left by the time I got my memory card.
<6th grade bestie showed up with her man. =) xoxo
<San Diego peeps.
<More misc pics.
<The girls and I exchanging autographs. I felt like I was in grade school swapping yearbooks before summer vacation.   <aren't we adorable? haha
<Awww....
<Broseph and his lady showing off some new tekmologeez. RESPECK.
<My mom and dad were bartending. Aren't they the coolest? I was a bit nervous about them being there while some of my crazy work was on display and the with some of really risque poetry that the poets were reciting. I tend to forget how chill my parents are about such things. My parents were so awesome they even called my drunk ass the next day to tell me how proud they are of my "creativity" and my art. That was nice. It's great that they support my artistic side. My dad is actually a great photographer. He's never owned a point and shoot camera. He does everything manually. I've been wanting to blog about him. He used to shoot self-portraits like me when he was a young whipper snapper. =) I'll write about it one of these days...
<Dad, sis, and mom. <3

As drunk as I got at the party, we ended up going to some secret restaurant that serves alcohol after hours. I ended up killing a bottle of sake on my own and pretty much blacked out.

I guess that's when I decided I absolutely had to...clean my chimney....

<The party after the after party. I tried to get him to close my fireplace, but I just ended up getting my guest dirty then challenged him to puzzle fighter till I fell asleep with the controller in my hand. I'm such a jackass. We go back though...7th grade. hahaha. Can't stop, won't stop. eheh eheh.

Guess that's all.

mmm mmm, bitch

Well, I updated my nurse costume just for the fuck of it. I will post pics of my real halloween costume for '07, when I wear it. For now here's a pic from a mini shoot that I did of myself a few minutes ago with my new nurse outfit. I was actually just testing my new wireless remote for my d200 since i just got home from a...costume party of sorts. =) basically, the remote for the d200 sucks ass compared to the d70s remote. i think i just have to get used to it. well, here's me sobering up. =)

(click to enlarge) haha eh here's the flickr version
nurse07sm

New self portrait

Here's a photo that I've been wanting to take of myself for quite some time.

nesIt has some pretty personally significant elements in it.

The first and obvious would be the original NES with the original R.O.B. I grew up playing video games. I wouldn't say that we were wealthy or even well off but we wanted a NES so bad, that we were able to attain one when it first came out. I was on that thing almost all day everyday until we got the SNES. Yes, I'm a dork. I'm a "gamer chick."

Another important part of this picture are my shoes. These are the very first pair of name brand shoes that I ever owned. My Adidas! I must have dreamed about these shoes a hundred times before I convinced my dad to get them for me when I was in the 6th grade. Before I got these, I always wore Payless and Kmart shoes, but there was no way that I was going to by the 4 striped adidas in Jr. high. haha. I remember going to the Footlocker to try these babies on. I was stoked. I still have them and I still fit them! haha. I don't actually wear them out these days, but I don't think I could ever throw them out.

I don't know where my rambling is headed. Perhaps what I really want to point out is that most of the things that I will never consider getting rid of have saturated a lot of the color yellow over the years. haha. Well, I guess I could say that it all winds down to this...Everything that I have ever truly wanted, I was able to eventually attain. To me this photo evokes a strong feeling of accomplishment. I feel good. haha. I just realized that I've been sober since June 9th and today's August 9th. =) Man, I'm suffocating on achievement. Um...time for me to get some sleep. I'll probably delete most of this nonsense when I wake up. haha.

New self portraits

so I sporadically decided to get some shots of myself in my temporary studio yesterday. the house is basically empty aside from the backgrounds that I set up, so I had a hard time coming up with ideas on the spot. I only had a few outfits, some makeup, and some books that I use to give models ideas for their makeup. here's what was composed...

<i found this old belt buckle. it's pretty old. It was my dad's. I was named after him. Ya dig? Just keep in mind that I aint Mike Jones, so keep my name outcho mouth. haha.

< I waited around for the sunset to get this shot. 8pm-ish. I have to remember that for other models. I think it's a cute setting. Better than full sunlight since the windows are so damned dirty from the outside.

< how could I resist using the pink background in one of my pics. I didn't really have props so I initially posed like I was just reading one of the books, but the books were too huge. They covered half my body and looked too awkward. So I just laid the books down and scattered some of my makeup around. Much better.

<close up of the details. I was just trying to lean my head back as far as I could to get that dramatic light burn on my face. Painful, but worth it.

< quick shot of my shadow. between shoots. hehe.
